  • Taneytown Chamber 20202 Crab Feast Fundraiser

Tickets are $50 per person for seated attendance, with children 12 and under free. A limited number of reserved tables of 6 are available for $275. Tables of 6 will be appropriately spaced within the open pavilions, and provisions made for seating at tables outside the pavilions. The area where alcohol consumption is allowed will be clearly delineated and fenced. Total attendance, including staff, will be kept under 250 people. Take-out tickets are available for $30, which will include a half dozen crabs, chicken, and sides. Proceeds from the event will be deposited into an account for this fund with the Community Foundation of Carroll County

The recipients of the relief grants will be determined from applications sent to the City and Chamber of commerce from small businesses with a physical presence in the Taneytown community,” said Chris Tillman, president of the Taneytown Chamber of Commerce and organizer of the relief fund. “Distribution will be based on need, with preference given to smaller businesses that were most impacted by the recent closures, and which may have been ineligible for much of the state and federal aid previously offered. This event marks a turning point for our business community.

City and Chamber officials are working closely with the Carroll County Health Department to make sure the event is compliant with both health department regulations and the latest Covid recommendations for outdoor gatherings.

We are working hard to create an environment for this event in which people can feel safe and comfortable attending it and are able to fully enjoy it, especially knowing they are supporting our local small-business partners,” said Lorena Vaccare, director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Taneytown. “The take-out option enables people to help our small businesses get back on their feet, while enjoying a crab feast in the comfort of their home. We’re confident that this event will be as successful as our other COVID-compliant events have been, and we’re happy to safely provide it to our community."

The Taneytown Police Department will be selling “Wear your Pants” and “Back the Blue” t-shirts in support of the fund. Area businesses have an opportunity to sponsor the event through monetary donations or in-kind silent auction donations. Vendors can sell goods at the event and are encouraged to make a donation to the fund in lieu of a space fee.

Should conditions change and directives be issued that prevent the event from being held, all tickets will be refunded. The event will be rain or shine, with exception for extreme weather circumstances. Refunds will only be offered in the event of a full cancellation.
